Berlin – Giant Mountains – Berlin
-
In August, we will enter the second round with the GB600. We are still inspired by the enormous response, the great popularity and the fantastic feedback from July 2024. At the same time, we have learnt a lot, grown closer together in the organising group and have been strengthened.
With this experience and fresh vigour, we are full of zest for action and would like to set off again with you towards the Giant Mountains. We are not planning to simply repeat last year's event. Rather, there will be some new features, from the route to the checkpoints and the number of participants.
We are planning two routes of around 600 and 680 kilometres through beautiful and varied landscapes. The hand-picked routes, which have been scouted several times, promise several thousand metres of elevation gain, which will demand a lot of sweat, but at the same time provide unforgettable experiences.
Together with you, we want to embark on this adventure in brevet form. The route will mainly be on asphalt and gravel roads, so although wider tyres (35mm +) are recommended, you will usually make good progress and have time for breaks. We start together and want to celebrate our achievements at the end with a finisher's party.Just 300 kilometres from Berlin, the Schneekoppe rises 1604 metres above sea level in the Giant Mountains. Visible from far and wide in an impressive landscape, the summit rises out of the mountain range and offers a breathtaking view in every direction.
With the GB600, we are honouring the cycling legend Gino Bartali, who as an anti-fascist is a role model for us in terms of humanity and lived solidarity. Our event is characterised by these values. A cordial and respectful atmosphere is very important to us. Any surpluses will be donated to cultural and educational projects.
Unlike the classic Brevet, we have significantly extended the time window.
We are also planning safe sleeping areas and supply points, riding in teams and an emergency number. We want everyone to feel comfortable and safe.
At the first GB600, half of the participants were FLINTA*, which we are very pleased about. This year, we want to encourage FLINTA* in particular to take part. That's why there will again be 50 per cent of fixed starting places.
We look forward to another adventure together with you!
